|Description||Files with a .pages.zip file extension are word processing documents which are generated by Apple's "Pages" application in versions 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 (these versions of the software were released between 2005-2007). Technically speaking the files produced are packages, but since it is not possible to upload a package to a web service (as they are multiple files) Zamzar recommends compressing them into a ZIP file before upload.
The pages.zip format is distinct from the pages file produced by more modern versions of iWork which is a single file (and so does not need to be compressed).
Pages is one of 3 programs which make up Apple's iWork office suite, a set of applications which run on the Mac OS X and iOS operating systems, also including Numbers (for spreadsheets) and Keynote (for presentations).
|Technical Details||Official file format specifications for iWork '05-'08 Keynote files are not published by Apple but there have been attempts by some developers to reverse engineer them.
Files created by Pages in iWork '05 - '08 are not compatibile with the most recent versions of iWork. In general Pages files cannot be opened by programs other than iWork.

|Description||PDF is a file format developed by Adobe Systems for representing documents in a manner that is separate from the original operating system, application or hardware from where it was originally created. A PDF file can be any length, contain any number of fonts and images and is designed to enable the creation and transfer of printer-ready output.|
|Technical Details||Each PDF file encapsulates a complete description of a 2D document (and, with the advent of Acrobat 3D, embedded 3D documents) that includes the text, fonts, images and 2D vector graphics that compose the document. They do not encode information that is specific to the application software, hardware, or operating system used to create or view the document.|
