Why view a PUB?

PUB files are created in Microsoft Publisher, the desktop publishing program used for brochures, newsletters, flyers and posters. The trouble is that Publisher only runs on Windows, and even then, only if you've got Office installed. If someone sends you a PUB file and you're on a Mac, or you simply don't have Publisher on your machine, you're stuck. You can't preview the content, check the layout or confirm you've received the right file.

Zamzar gets round this by processing your PUB file and displaying it through an embedded viewer in your browser. You upload the file, and once it's been processed, you can look through the pages without installing any software or owning a Publisher licence.

This comes in handy in all sorts of situations. A freelance designer might receive a client's old newsletter template in PUB format and need to check its layout before quoting on a redesign. A small business owner switching from a Windows PC to a Mac might want to view old flyers and promotional materials created by a previous employee. Someone applying for a print job might be asked to review a PUB-based portfolio piece sent by a recruiter, without any way to open it locally. In each case, viewing the file is the first step before deciding what to do with it.
