MSG Document Format MSG Converter
The MSG file format was developed by Microsoft for its Outlook email program. Microsoft Outlook can be accessed online with internet browsers, or through software applications, which are available for all the main operating systems. MSG files can be opened within Outlook, but also with other some other applications.
MSG is short for ‘message’, which is what the files are. However, as well as email messages, Outlook will also save contact and calendar items into MSG format. Like the EML format, MSG email files include a header with the email subject, the sender and receiver, and the date and time the email was sent, as well as the body of the message. The files can also include email attachments. Contact files from Outlook that are saved/exported into MSG format would include whatever contact information had been entered, while calendar items would include the time, date and location of the meeting or diary item, plus any extra information.
HTML Document Format
HTML stands for HyperText Markup Language. It’s an international open standard invented by Tim Berners-Lee, and the main format used for both website pages and formatted emails. HTML describes the structure of a webpage or email, and contains instruction codes for how a user’s browser should display it. These codes include the general layout and which pieces of content are headers, paragraphs of text, links, images, or videos. Internet browsers, like Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Edge, then use this information to display the website content as the editors intended.
You can open an HTML webpage file with your internet browser to preview it, and you can view the full HTML code of a website or HTML file by selecting ‘view source’ from your browser, or by opening the file in a text editor. To create an HTML file, you can use text editors or specific HTML editors. You can also use online tools like Zamzar to create an HTML version of an existing document.
