Q. Some common problems opening DOC file(s) ?
Common issues that we have found here at Zamzar with DOC files is that they can often have been created in an earlier version of the Office software which can often cause issues, especially if the file is from pre Microsoft Office 1997. Another factor that we have often come across has been sometimes the file is password protected and without the password these files cannot be converted. Another issue that we have encountered is, as files get saved multiple times, or get sent from around data can be lost between versions of the file and this results in the file corrupting which again makes the file impossible to open and therefore something that can't convert.

Q. What alternatives have I got to Zamzar ?
If you have Microsoft Word installed on your computer and you are on a Mac then you could consider opening the Word document, exporting the file as a PDF (select File from the menu options, choose export from the menu and select PDF) and then open the resulting PDF file in the Mac Preview program and choose File and then the export menu option and choose JPG (note this will only export the first page to JPG). If you wanted to export all pages of the PDF to JPG then you could use the Automator application. We found a very good article here with a step by step approach on how to convert PDF's with multiple pages to JPG - please see Multipage PDF to JPG. If you are on a PC then you would open Microsoft Word, if you had that installed and export the file to PDF then you could use some downloadable software such as Docufreezer which is free to download and use in a non commercial environment. You could obviously make use of Zamzar's free PDF to JPG converter but this would be another option. If you didn't have Microsoft Office installed on your PC or Mac then you could consider downloading the free LibreOffice tool which allows you to open Microsft Word documents without Microsoft Office. From within here you could then export your Word document to PDF and use the steps we have outlined before to convert that PDF to JPG.
