JFIF Image Format JFIF Converter
The JPEG File Interchange Format (JFIF for short) is a graphical format used to transmit and store digital images. First developed in 1991 it acts as container for the JPEG compression algorithm. The terms "JFIF" and "JPEG" are often used interchangeably to refer to JPG images, but in practice JPEG is a compression algorithm, while JFIF is a file format that uses this algorithm. Files themselves may have either a .jfif or a .jpg extension.
JFIF files are often used on the web for photos and are widely supported in almost all web browsers and image editing software. JFIF supports lossy compression which can result in a loss of quality for images. In general, JFIF is better suited for use with photos rather than images with text, sharp edges or line art, as those images can appear blurry or pixelated after compression.
WBMP Image Format WBMP Converter
The full name of the WBMP format is Wireless Bitmap image file. WBMP files are black and white raster images that support 1-bit image data. They were optimised for handheld devices like mobile phones and PDAs. However, the image quality of these files tended to be low, to keep the file size small and make them easier to send, view and store on the devices available at the time. Before the introduction of smartphones that could send multicoloured MMS messages, many people sent black and white WBMP images to each other.
The WBMP format has now almost entirely been replaced because people can easily send and receive high-definition photos and videos on their smartphones and tablets. If you have an old WBMP file, you can still open it in Adobe Photoshop, Inkscape, Canvas or Corel PaintShop Pro.
How to convert a JFIF to a WBMP file?
- 1. Choose the JFIF file that you want to convert.
- 2. Select WBMP as the the format you want to convert your JFIF file to.
