OPUS Audio Format OPUS Converter
OPUS, or OGG OPUS, is a free and open source audio file format. Developed by Xiph.org foundation and later standardised by the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force), it uses lossy compression to shrink files, while maintaining a high quality sound with minimal degradation. OPUS files are encoded with SILK or CELT codecs and use the OGG container format. Originally built for online media streaming, this file format is very practical for real-time interactive and audio-specific web streaming services with low delay (latency).
It is a very versatile file format, accommodating both high and low bitrates. That said, OPUS isn’t as widely used compared to more well-known audio file formats, being sidelined by other formats such as MP3 and WMA. Typical uses for OPUS files include web-based audio and video streaming, video conferencing, gaming, and radio broadcasting. OPUS files can be opened using compatible browsers such as Chrome, Firefox and Opera, but can’t be played by typical Mac media players or by Windows Media Players prior to the 2022 version. Alternative multimedia players such as VLC, FFmpeg or AIMP, however, do support the OPUS format.

JSON Document Format
JSON is a structured open file format typically used for sharing data. It contains human-readable text, typically consisting of name–value pairs which contain data in a standard form. Designed for simplicity and accessibility, JSON files are independent of any one programming language and can be used to store strings, numbers, booleans, arrays and even objects. Specialist software is not needed to manipulate JSON files, as they can be viewed and edited in standard text editors such as Notepad on Windows. Originally developed by Douglas Crockford (a prominent American computer programmer) in the early 2000s, JSON was first standardised in 2013, as ECMA-404 and is now widely used within the software industry, often for configuration files or as a means of exchanging data between programs and services.
