Description First released by Motorola in 2009, the DEXT is a smartphone running the Android operating system. In some regions it is known as the Motorola Cliq The device was Motorola's first phone to make use of Android. The device comes equipped with a full slide out QWERTY keyboard. The phone is heavily integrated with social networks, allowing the user to connect to Facebook, Twitter, Google and Myspace via Motorola's MotoBlur account with information displaying through the 'Happenings' widget. The Dext has access to the Android Market to download third party apps to increase the functionality of the phone. The device was fairly well received and compared fairly well alongside other Android offerings such as the HTC Hero. It provides a good browsing experience and allows users to watch music and listen to video.

Technical Details The Motorola DEXT comes with a 3.1 inch LCD display capable of a resolution of 320x480 pixels at 186 pixels per inch. The device supports a number of video formats including H.263, H.264, MP4 and VP8. Video conversion to H.264 is recommended at a maximum average bitrate of 1500 kbps using AAC for audio encoding. The device is reported to encounter difficulties playing video at a size greater than 2 GB. Video that is greater than the resolution of the DEXT will also not play.
