Technical Details PST file formats have two types which are based on the encoding. ANSI encoded PST files are generally older file formats, supported by Microsoft Outlook 2002 and earlier versions - these files have a maximum size limit of 2GB and do not support Unicode. The more modern file format is based on Unicode encoding and removes the file size limit and can reach a maximum size of 50GB.
