Description Developed by Samsung, the Galaxy Tab was arguably the first tablet computer to provide a credible rivalry to the Apple iPad. Running on the popular Google Android Operating System, the device originally featured a 7 inch screen but later versions have a 10.1 inch display. Featuring front and rear cameras, the device is capable of recording high definition video. Samsung have been sued by Apple for a number of patent infringements with various court proceedings taking place in different countries around the world. The device has been positively reviewed by a number of technology blogs, praising both its physical appearance and its speed of operation.

Technical Details The Galaxy Tab supports playback of 1080p full HD video at 30 frames per second. The device also supports eight different video formats including AVI, MP4, WMV, DIVX and WebM. The screen supports a display up to 1280x800 pixels. However, due to the size of the screen, experts advise that full 1080p video is not particularly necessary, with 720p being sufficient to provide good visuals on the device. AAC or AAC+ is recommended as the best codec for the audio to accompany video.

Technical Details The M4V file is a container that allows audio and video. In certain circumstances where Apple's DRM has not be applied to the file, it is possible to play the file from a different unauthenticated computer by amending the file extension from .m4v to .mp4. Additionally m4v provides the functionality to create chapter information which is not possible with MP4.
