LIT eBook Format LIT Converter
Microsoft developed the LIT format for its now discontinued Microsoft Reader program. Microsoft Reader typically came as a free application for Windows computers and Pocket PC PDAs. Both Microsoft Reader and the LIT format were released in 2000, but Microsoft retired the program in 2011. LIT files are similar in structure to CHM files but can include digital rights management (DRM) protection to prevent copyright theft.
Microsoft Reader and LIT files used ClearType, which improved readability on devices. The main disadvantage with the LIT format was that it was not compatible with many devices or ereading apps. Ereading devices like the Kindle and smartphone/tablet apps are also much more convenient for reading books on the go. If you have an old LIT file, you should still be able to open it using Calibre’s ebook software. Otherwise, you may want to convert the file into another ebook format.

FB2 eBook Format FB2 Converter
The FB2 format name stands for FictionBook 2.0. It’s a type of ebook file mostly used for literature like novels or short stories. FictionBook is a Russian company, and it introduced the FB2 format in the 2000s. The format itself comprises one XML file, which describes the structure of the book, rather than the appearance. This means that sections that are highlighted with bold or italics will display consistently, but the exact appearance of the book might vary on different devices or ereading apps. An FB2 file will also contain metadata like the author, publisher, and edition release date.
FictionBook has since introduced the FB3 format, although FB2 is more popular. FB2 files can be opened by many ereaders, including Calibre, PocketBook, BeBook, CoolReader, KyBook, Geometer Plus FBReader, and even OpenOffice. FB2 files will also open in some browsers with an ereader extension.
