The ERF file format is the RAW image format used by Epson cameras. Many photographers like to take their photos in RAW mode as this allows them to control the creative editing of an image and they can play around with the various settings around colour correction and white balance before they decide to convert to a more mainstream format.
ERF files are generated by the Epson R-D1 and R-D1s digital rangefinder cameras, Epson ERF files are based on the TIFF/EP specification but deviate slightly including the use of a non-standard file header, the inclusion of additional image tags and the encryption of some of the tagged data.

The WBMP file format is a now obsolete file type that was used by early mobile phones to exchange and store images. WBMP files are black and white only. The WBMP format was succeeded by the PNG format for use by WAP mobile phones as this provided colour support. A requirement for a WAP specific image format has been rendered increasingly unnecessary due to the advent of smartphones and their support of a range of image formats.
A .WBMP file is saved in bit format. This means that each pixel represents 1 bit. Each pixel can be black or white. Each WBMP file is comprised of a type field, a header field, a width value, a height value and the data for the image itself.
